IFL Chapter Focus Week
Chapter focus week is the week long retreat right after finals, to spend time with friends, meet new friends, and explore who God is. Several different tracks are offered, so there is a place just right for you. Timber Wolf Lake also provides lots of recreation: a zip line across the lake, canoeing, rock wall climbing, volleyball, frisbee, basketball, etc.
TracksConvergeConverge (kən’vərj): verb — to come together from different directions so
as eventually to meet. Are you… Looking for God? New to the faith? Feeling
dry? This track is for you who are feeling confused in your search for God,
disillusioned, or longing for more. Converge is a place where you can be real
with God and others, and learn in creative and engaging ways about the God
who’s looking for us on this journey of faith. Come. Explore together.
Respond. Be refreshed.
Truth that Works, Truth that HealsMany people today have growing skepticism about the everyday relevance of
Christian faith and the answers it offers to life’s questions. Guided in part by
your friends’ questions and your own, we’ll wrestle with some of today’s most
challenging issues. We will look for authentically Christian answers that offer
genuine hope and gracious truth to a hurting world — answers that give us the
humble courage to become more faithful, holistic followers of Jesus. Note: track
limited to 30 participants.
Mark 1Come live with Jesus in chapters 1–8 of Mark’s Gospel. Using a manuscript
study format, we will meet Jesus together in a new way. Mark 1 is for you if:
Mark 2Mark 2 is the continuation of Mark 1. Dive into the rest of the story in
chapters 9-16. Meet Jesus in the climax of his life, death and resurrection. See
the unfolding struggle to understand who He is and how to respond to Him.
Live to TellIf you knew something really awesome, could you keep it to yourself? The
wonderful story of God is meant to be told. Alive and in the flesh, you are
the best story teller to your campus. Come learn how to listen to other’s
stories and communicate the gospel story effectively so you can discover how
God intended us to really live.
Leadership TeamThis is a week for your chapter leadership team to pray, build relationships,
seek God’s purposes for your campus and plan for the coming year. You’ll meet
with God, work as a team on the planning process, and catch a vision for how God
can use your chapter on campus. Biblical teaching, vision casting, conversations
with chapter leaders from other schools, and training in biblical leadership
combine to make a life-changing week. Requirement: At least 4 of your leadership
team members (for the coming year) plus your InterVarsity Campus Staff member or
other resource person must participate together.
Small Group Leader TrainingThis track is designed for those who have been asked by their IV staff or
leadership team to lead a small group Bible study on campus. Learn how to
prepare a Bible-centered study, finding the main truth of the Scripture
passage and applying it to everyday life. Practice leading a small group and
learn by observing other leaders. Gain skills and vision for your small group
to become a witnessing community on campus.
CrewCan you really serve God by cleaning bathrooms, hauling firewood, and
slicing mountains of vegetables? Yes! Join the Cedar Campus crew for a
week-long lesson in practical servanthood. You will have the opportunity to
serve God, your chapter, other students and Cedar Campus. Because of your work
schedule you will not always be free when students in other tracks have free
time. However, all crew track participants will be able to attend evening
worship and exposition and chapter prayer.
